Why Humans Are Frugivores And Should Only Eat Fruits

Fruit is a magical food naturally low in calories and packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, fiber and most importantly, simple sugars.
Simple Sugars found in raw fruits are the main fuel for the body. These sugars are as essential to the body as gasoline is to an automobile. It helps to run the body via the cells. This is one reason why the body becomes stronger, vibrant and more energetic on these foods. Glucose is the primary source of energy for the body and is the only fuel used by brain cells. Glucose and Fructose are both simple sugars and when partnered together in a whole, raw food like FRUIT it is the perfect fuel for our species. It provides readily available energy with very little effort from the body.
I love what Joe Dubs had to say about the relationship between humans and fruit. “Humans are designed to eat mostly fruit. We’re frugivores, just like monkeys and chimps. We are the most biologically advanced species on Earth. Fruit is the most advanced part of a plant. It has to be, since it’s responsibilities relies solely on the progeny of the plant itself. The fruit eaters get to enjoy a mighty tasty snack, and in exchange we assist the plant’s propagation and reproduction. Everybody wins.”

- Foods high in protein and low in sugars or foods high in complex sugars, rob the body of vital energy, create acidosis and will elevate blood sugars. Fruit will do the opposite.
Protein:
The Standard American Diet puts such an emphasis on getting what they describe as “enough protein”. This is mostly because they want to push the government subsidized meat, dairy and egg industries. So where do we find the protein we need in the plant kingdom then? From all plant based foods!! Every plant has amino acids that our bodies convert to protein. There is no such thing as a protein deficiency.
According to the National Center for Bio-technical Information, research has shown that human mother’s milk contains 0.8% – 0.9% protein. That is less than one percent! This tells us that for a growing baby, that is all the protein that we require by design! What happens when we stop growing? Protein’s main function is to provide the building blocks for growth. High protein drinks will strain the kidneys and the pancreas. Even a diet consisting of ONLY fruits will give us more protein than we actually need to survive (an average of 5% – 20% depending on the fruit).

Tips:
Make sure to eat fruit first on an empty stomach and by itself. When fruit is eaten soon after a cooked meal (even a plant-based one) it will sit on top of the cooked foods and start to ferment, causing gas, heartburn, indigestion and so on. Remember, fruit is already partially digested for us and wants to move through the digestive tract a lot faster than cooked foods, thanks to the live enzymes in the fruit. As we say in our house, “Fruit First!”
I encourage people to eat as much fresh, ripe fruit as they can. Fruit is our species specific diet so obviously, the higher percentage of fruit that you eat, the better. Smoothies are always a hit and anyone can make them.
